En 1868, Jean-Baptiste Normand s'associa à Télesphore-Eusèbe Normand pour ressusciter le journal Le Constitutionnel qui avait d'abord été publié par Ludger Duvernay de 1823 à 1825. Moins de deux ans plus tard, le 5 janvier 1870, les deux Normand fondèrent le journal The Lumberman and Three Rivers Echo. Jean-Baptiste Normand se retira en 1871.
